Basically, companies may be incorporated in Mainland, in a Free Zone, or in one of the Offshore Zones. Companies are set-up as an LLC, a subsidiary, a branch, a representative office, or a civil company. Until recently, the UAE did not allow foreign ownership of local (mainland) companies.
